In February, we welcomed a lot of new authors to the Press, and in the next few months a lot of these authors will be debuting with Duck Prints Press, writing stories for our backers on Patreon and elsewhere! The first of these debuts is now available to all our monthly backers! Join Eloise as she gets to know the woman who sits across from her on the train every morning in our latest f/f short story!
Author: Eliot Lovell
Rating: General Audiences
Character Features: anxiety
Tags: flirting, getting together, meet cute, pov third person limited, present tense, public transit
A briefcase drops into the seat in front of her, and Eloise yanks her feet back under her chair on instinct, wincing when the cheap leather of her boots squeaking together rings out over every other noise in the carriage. Her natural urge to apologise dies on her tongue when a woman follows the briefcase, settling diagonally across from Eloise.
Technically, they’re wearing their hair the same style, though this woman’s long, sleek braid is a far cry from the way Eloise forced her curls into a plait that sits heavy on her shoulder. Eloise blinks, leftover mascara from the day before feeling particularly disgraceful as she takes in the sharp cut of eyeliner and rosy cheeks of the woman across from her.
Length: 9 pages/2,484 words
